Carhartt cotton, thread, cherry wood, photographs
dimensions variable
In 2009 I began a project in which I unstitched my three-piece wedding suit and created two replicas, one in burlap and one in tarp material. Using the same templates I created a third suit made from Carhartt's signature rust-brown 12-ounce, 100% ring-spun cotton duck. I then composed several photographic situations in which I am wearing the suit and conducting various activities. With these photographs, I am interested in male identity politics and collapsing the distinction between traditional American male and traditional American female roles.
