I will be participating in ArtPrize this year, a radically open art competition, giving away the world’s largest art prize based solely on public vote. ArtPrize is now in its second year and is held in Grand Rapids, MI. I was invited by the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park to install my sculpture on the Gillette Bridge in downtown Grand Rapids. The exhibition opens September 22 and closes October 10. Nature Rules!

I was just accepted into the 28th Annual Outdoor Sculpture Show on Governor’s Island, NY sponsored by the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition. The title of the show is Nature Rules and I am one of 15 artists that will be installing work. The show opens on June 5th and will be on view through October 10, 2010. I would like to announce a few of my current and upcoming exhibitions: I recently returned from Key West, FL where two students and I installed The Redemptive Quality of Life for Sculpture Key West 2010. Travis Graves and I will be installing a site-specific piece titled, Time and Disregard at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts in Grand Rapids, MI. I would like to announce the opening of Sculpture Key West 2010. This year’s exhibition was curated by New York-based critic, Lilly Wei. The show begins on Saturday, January 16 and will be on view until April 16, 2010. My site-specific sculpture will be placed near the grove of pine trees at Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park. Objects on the Horizon

I recently installed a new piece of sculpture for an exhibition at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The show runs from August 17th thru October 4th with a closing reception and gallery talk. Objects on the Horizon features six TN based sculptors working in a range of media from organic materials to electronic video and audio. If you are in the area please check it out. I will be participating in the Baltimore Sculpture Project again this year with Rooted, the piece that I had at Sculpture Key West 2009. It will go up late June and be on display until May of 2010. If you are in the area, check it out. I will also be included in an exhibition at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in August with two new sculptures. I will post an update when I learn more details.

Travis Graves and I just returned from New York City where we set up a collaborative installation for the show, Spctclr Vws. Sculpture Key West & Threshold

I would like to announce two of my upcoming exhibitions. The first is Sculpture Key West 2009. The show will feature installations that were selected by a jury led by Shamim M. Momin, Associate Curator of the Whitney Museum in New York and co-curator of the 2008 Whitney Biennial. The majority of the artworks will be installed at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park, which opens March 1 (this is where my sculpture will be located) and West Martello Tower, which opens Jan 18, 2009. The second will be a solo show entitled Threshold located in Hanchey Gallery 2 on the campus of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. AguaTrip Release Party!

I would like to announce an important event happening in the very near future. On November 5th, the New York-based band, Agua Trip will be releasing their new album, Genetics, in Times Square. In addition to live music there will be an art exhibition/fundraiser of 20 artists who have created work that visually represents the band’s music.
