Field Work & Fiber Philadelphia

I would like to announce two exhibitions, both on view through April 14th, 2012. The first is Field Work located at VisArts in Rockville, MD. The opening reception is Friday, March 9th from 7-9pm. My piece, Collapse (Until Death Do Us Part) was curated into the exhibition, Outside/Inside the Box. HxWxD at MTSU

I would like to announce a three-person exhibition titled, HxWxD in the Todd Art Gallery on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, TN. The two other artists in the exhibition are Kristina Arnold and Ron Lambert. It opened on February 7th and runs until March 1st.

Jara Island International Baggat Art Exhibition

I’m about to board my plane back to the US and conclude my stay here in South Korea. For the past 10 days I have lived and worked with 25 Korean, Japanese, Swedish and Austrian artists in a residency-type environment. Each artist was expected to choose an area on Jarasum Island (Gapyeong County, NE of Seoul) and create a sculptural installation that responded to that site using predominantly natural materials. My installation is titled Moving Mountains and references one of South Korea’s most impressive aspects – their mountains! The opening reception included traditional Korean dancers, parade through the city and ceremonies honoring the spirits of agriculture. It was amazingly beautiful and I am proud to have been a participant. For more information about the Baggat Art Organization, click HERE.

I’ve been invited to South Korea for the 2012 Jara Island International Baggat Art Exhibition . Now in its 31st year, this exhibition is held outdoors on Jarasum Island in February. Each participating artist creates a sculptural installation that responds to the environment using predominantly natural materials. To view the website with images from previous years, click HERE.

Tallahassee International

The 26th Annual Tallahassee International opens next week at FSU’s Museum of Fine Arts. My work, Collapse (Until Death Do Us Part) and Collapse (All-Purpose) were chosen to be part of the exhibition. The exhibition runs from August 29th through October 2nd with an opening reception on Friday, September 2nd from 5-8pm. If you are in the area, please check it out. Viridian Artists

The 22nd Annual Juried Show opened last week at Viridian Artists in NYC. My work, Collapse (Until Death Do Us Part) was chosen to be in the exhibition. Threshold II

I just returned from a residency at the Vermont Studio Center where, among other things, I was working on an installation for Salem Art Works in Salem, NY. Charleston, SC

Laura, Maggie and I are in Charleston, SC right now visiting family. We are planning to move here after Laura graduates at the end of the year. I’ve already started working for the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art as their Visual Arts Preparator. I’m also going to be teaching classes at Redux Contemporary Art Center.

Paper Forest

Paper Forest just opened at the William King Museum in Abingdon, VA. This is the third collaborative installation between myself and Travis Graves.
