I just finished installing my sculpture for Out in the Open at the William King Museum of Art. I am one of three artists chosen by juror, Lauren Ross, curator of the Institute of Contemporary Art at VCU. My sculpture is titled In-Transit and consists of a steel and vinyl structure designed to fit around a mature, preexisting tree. It is intended to appear as though the tree has only been temporarily planted on the WKMA grounds, highlighting the absurdity of mobility. The other two artists in the exhibition are Charlie Brouwer and Marc Maiorana and the sculptures will be on view through July, 2018 with an opening reception on August 4th, 2016. If you’re in the area, please check them out.
