Thief in the Night

This piece is another pallet creation, but instead of steam-bent wood, it is constructed from 100% USA-made denim fabric. This 16.5 oz. selvage denim was donated from the White Oak Cone Denim factory in Greensboro, NC. It was woven on true vintage looms, using technology that is more than sixty years old. The dimensions reflect the standard 4-way pallet design and foam/aluminum have been used in order to maintain its structure. In addition, backpack straps have been fashioned and attached so that the pallet may be worn and carried easily. I composed several photographs of skilled laborers wearing the pallet and conducting their normal activities. *Special thanks to Jon Bowers, Tony Delaurentis, Kathleen Fowler and Hugh Swingle.
